Bura. But I am currently working on my own weather service and might use it more than Bura once it’s done.

No JavaScript, no bullshit, focus on clean design and user experience and full focus on privacy. I publish updates on Mastodon under the hashtag serenum.

Purely awesome app if you scan a straight paper that are not cut in any way. I miss the ability to manually crop the images. Will still use the app, though.

Thanks for recommending it 🙂 Have always used a flatbed scanner for my papers (receipts, bills, etc.), but now I can scan on the go 😊

I used to use SmartTube before using yt-dlp and Jellyfin which was maybe 2 years ago.

Have SmartTube removed the direct connection youtube.com for subscriptions?

Same here, but with Windows 10. Windows 11 is too bloated and too much of “we require you to”.

Snikket user here, too. Have used it since maybe 2024 and are very happy. The only downside is the clients even if they are very good (especially Gajim and Conversations), but also video calls.

I got so annoyed with video calls I ended up with installing Jitsi Meet. Works like a charm with no issues with video, voice, rooms, screenshare, or chat.

So whenever I want to have a voice/video call with someone these days, Jitsi Meet is the only way to go for me. If the voice call need to have an extra layer of security, my Snikket server works good.

That was the name! And yes, you’re right. It was a full client.

Just don’t get a court order by Meta like the other dude that created a front-end for Instagram. Can’t remember the name since it was before the pandemic. There was a lot of news about it in the FOSS community.

I am not defending Telegram in any way by saying this, but how can you be so certain that content supposely encrypted with MTProto when using Cloud Chat is only stored in plaintext on encrypted disks? Where is the proof of this?

No one can’t prove that Telegram use MTProto to encrypt content sent using Cloud Chat, stores them encrypted, and them decrypt them upon opening because the source code for MTProto is closed. So how can you prove that what you’re saying is the way they use?

Don’t get me wrong in any of this discussion. I don’t trust Telegram anymore. I don’t trust any closed sourced softwares anymore! But one can’t say “it is like this, not like that” without any proof.

After doing a quick scan of their FAQ, there’s nothing about who generated the key. So my wild guess is the client. I bet their source code can answer that question, but I have no clue.

Based in USA and using AWS? Hard pass. Even Stripe is bad enough, but I do understand that one.

False. If you want to tell how things works, get your facts right!

All data sent to Telegram’s servers will be encrypted once they reach the servers. With other words, the messages and media and other files, will be sent in “plain text” over HTTPS only when using Cloud Chat. In Secret Chat, MTProto is (based on how E2EE works) as safe as what Signal Protocol is.

But nothing will be stored in plain text, no matter what you use (Cloud Chat or Secret Chat).

But(!) since the source code for MTProto is closed, we don’t know how it really works, and if we can trust their FAQ or not.

I trusted Telegram at first, but I don’t trust it 100% anymore (still better than SMS). Am using my own Snikket server these days. Much safer with a lot of 😌😊😍😃 moments, even today, maybe a year later. Especially with OMEMO (Signal Protocol).

I tried it 2 days ago. MAZANOKE does a better job. imgcompress made the file size bigger than MAZANOKE’s despite same settings.
