As this will -thanks to me being quite clueless- be a very open question I will start with the setup:

I was wondering if I could get some suggestions from the community about the best way to go about migrating from Windows Server on my homelab host to Proxmox.

Thought I might share this for anyone that’s running into the same problem as me. Since the Beelink S12 Pro is a popular choice for some in this community, especially if you are running video transcoding (mediaservers).

I’ve got Immich working great on Unraid, but if I’m on my network I can’t really use it. Just fails to resolve the dns. I looked it up and it’s that my router doesn’t support hairpin or something. It’s a Aginet hb810. I found a workaround in the Immich client where you can add a second entry that’s network specific, but it doesn’t seem to work very reliably.

To be honest, I’ve seen commercial 7’ racks in data centres and computer rooms that were worse than the worst ones here!

Any idea for a self hosted home maintenance reminder system? Essentially something that will have reminders for things that reoccur regularly either ie yearly, monthly etc. Ideally it would have some way of checking it off to show the task was completed and then it would reoccur at the preset time next month /year etc.

I’m going to set up a WireGuard server on my router. I want my mom to be able to use it but she lives very far away so setup will need to be done remotely. What’s the best way to go about this? I need to share the WG config somehow.

My e-book management currently consist of storing a bunch of files, both .epub, .pdf and .azw3 stored either by author (fiction) or by topic (non-fiction), for various sources (purchased e-books, downloaded via University subscriptions, Project Guthenberg and some from Library Genesis/Anna’s Archive). For some time I’d been wanting to organize them better, with a web UI to download in a format of my choice and to be able to share with others.

I realize, I need to upgrade my little NUC to something bigger for higher inference of bigger llama models. I want something that you still can have on your living room’s tv bench, so no monster rack please, but that has also the necessary muscle when needed for llama. Budget doesn’t matter right now, want to understand what’s good and what’s out there. Thanks

I think I’ve hit a wall here. I set up both Collabara (CODE) and OnlyOffice (documentserver), and either I’m doing it wrong, or both require Nextcloud to provide the document editing UI. I really don’t want to install Nextcloud. It feels like overkill.

I tried “all” settings. I tried reading the logs and norhing helped. I had many months without issues. How do you guys debug it? The logs aren’t too helpful for me and there are too many settings for me to play with. I’ve got an intel GPU with eirher QSV or VAAPI. Disabling does not work either. CPU is normal, GPU is normal. RAM is not full.

I’ve been doing some selfhosting and want to setup fail2ban for my exposed apps, but am unsure if that should be setup on my router (OpenWRT), on each server that may be exposed, or just in the Caddy container?

Maybe I’m overthinking this. I want something with a drag and drop interface that then gives me a link to paste into discord or a forum to show the image directly, as Imgur does.

I was using webmin, but since my last server died and I’m making a new one, I decided I’d look into something different, personally I liked webmin but didn’t use most of its functionality and felt a little clunky for my basic use. I’ve also testran casaos but felt weirdly limited and couldn’t smoothly migrate docker containers to interact with its interface.

In my wiki roundup post I complained about DokuWiki’s reliance on plugins, but after scouring the landscape of FOSS wiki offerings nothing else offers exactly what I need. So I settled on DokuWiki with a bunch of plugins. I have plugins for tagging pages, moving pages, blogging (which I use as a place to quickly catch ideas as they come to me before pushing them to the wiki proper), listing orphaned and wanted pages, among others.

I am experimenting with using forgejo instead of GitHub for my personal projects. So far I like it, however I would like to make it available to the outside world at some point.

I may be inheriting a server(s) that is about 27” in depth (2-4u) and a storage solution that’s about 4u, depth not clear at this time, and I want to potentially put a ups in the rack. Maybe a managed switch as well, and potentially room to also put a modem/router in as well.

I know nobody at Netbird will see this but I just finished setting up netbird via podman quadlets with traefik and its absolutely amazing!! I was using headscale before. I’m getting near at home speeds and I’m using the stun server as I can’t get a direct connection because of firewalls. The dashboard and documentation is mint and I can’t thank the people at netbird enough for the recent huge update that makes setting it up so much easier.

TL:DR; Has anyone here successfully migrated their data & workflow from Logseq to Silverbullet?

I have a firewalla purple. it’s idiot mode networking and I love it, but I have never been too thrilled with it’s cloud shit and really don’t to rely on it as my only option right now.

I’ve just looked at some tutorials for Keycloak and Authentik and there’s definitely a very steep learning curve for these two solutions. I feel like I need something a lot simpler to be able to fully grasp the concept.
