You’re a big shot trainer going to open your own gym. What will your theme be?

Inspired by the opposite question posted recently, what YouTube creators have you watched for a long time and still find worth returning to? Alternatively, what are some new high quality channels you have been enjoying?

Since ours in the US is generally a percentage of the bill, people in expensive restaurants can make more. Do they work harder? Do they have fewer tables so less checks are tipping? 20% tips on 5 hundred dollar tables is $100 every 60-90 minutes, but shifts are usually only a few hours. So maybe $3-400 for a 4-5 hour dinner shift? In a diner you’d are probably half that per table but for more tables and faster turnover. What’s a good wage?

And what’s the origin of that phrase?

A few hours ago I finished reading Fahrenheit 451, it was hard for me because I rarely read books, but it was worth it, and oh, I felt like I read about our time, people in this novel are like people are now. People watch TV shows, movies, anime created by people and at least think a little, but it happens that people do not think at all and also watch only created by AI and their consumer soul is happy? or even better communicate with AI as a friend and not only, they are, in my opinion, similar to the wife of the main character of the novel; Maybe they will even face a similar fate?

My wife is pushing for one of these very expensive home water treatment/filtration systems, but it all feels like a scam to me. No one I know has one, so turning to random strangers on the internet for opinions.

I find it hard to get into anything new, (especially tech) as I always want to learn how everything actually worked leading up to it, and I’m usually of the mind that most older things were better than now. However I figure I should branch out.

Posting a guard on duty accomplishes nothing. Putting a guard in an isolated dedicated security room, with live cameras, means the silent alarm is always triggered.

I (23M) grew up in an extremely abusive household. My older brother learned to imitate the violence and lack of remorse my father modeled, while I hid in my room for most of my childhood and slowly deprogrammed until I learned to trust safe people and assert my needs and boundaries. Now that I know what safe people are like, I also know what they absolutely fucking aren’t.

Edit~hey gang, when I posed this question and had some opinions. I realized I don’t really feel one way or another about it and I can’t really articulate a stance (probably just too tired). I won’t be engaging. I don’t want to just delete it though because some people made interesting points. Up to mods what to do with this.

I’ve noticed that I often struggle to express what I actually mean during discussions.

My friend’s on reddit a lot, uses it for support questions and reviews mostly, but got fed up with the bullshit toxicity there.

I mean those people who you look at them and they have the body and responsibilities of a 43 year old but then you hear them talk about other people or other ethnicities or other situations that people are experiencing elsewhere and the person had might as well be a remorseless 3 year old that was raised wrongly…. The thing that floors me is hen you meet a very old person, Im talking in their 60s or older, and they start spewing some of the most idiotic, narcisisstic garbage a person could ever talk of… ‘How have you spent all these years learning nothing?!’

I need to quench my thirst for knowledge and learn something new just for the sake of it.

I’m thinking things like “Same-sung” For Samsung, because all their products look kinda generic and boring, or Ford standing for “Fix Or Repair Daily” because of the engineering and build quality, or “McDiabetes”, for obvious reasons.

Or any lesson for that matter

My go to would probably be the 7th generation (i.e Xbox 360/PS3) just for the community alone.

Also, what value do you place on pragmatism?

I’ve noticed that if I listen to a song I loved but haven’t heard in a long time, I’ll get goosebumps. I’m not sure why exactly but I’m wondering what other kinds of experiences people find they get goosebumps from.

I’m still undecided, and I’d say reading some opinions would help me.

I’m lucky to own/operate a small farm I live on. It doesn’t produce almost any real money for me but it serves as a good collection of hobbies/food. My primary income is industrial and doesn’t scratch that itch. But, it pays the bills and affords me a schedule that let’s me maintain the farm. So, what would your ideal small farm setup look like?

I was walking yesterday afternoon in a fairly busy suburban commercial area. I took a turn by a car stopped at a stop sign. When I was about five or 10 feet away, suddenly I heard a noise it sounded like rattatatta like a machine gun, though not loud like firearms. I was struck in the back with several somethings very lightly… Just enough to feel it, not enough to remotely hurt at all or even sting. Didn’t mark my clothes. I looked down on the ground and didn’t see whatever the projectiles were. I looked at the car and didn’t see anyone, just an open back window. Then they took off from the stop sign.

I left Reddit to get away from that, but unfortunately there still seem to be a fair number of users here that also are convinced men are the real underclass, victimized by everything.

I’m kind of 50/50 on this. Some days I want to work alone, not be bothered at all, do the work and go home. But sometimes I actually do want to be collaborative and offer up ideas and solutions.

Also anything you generally find relaxing that isn’t intended to be.

I love audiobooks and consume them frequently but I personally don’t call it reading. It doesn’t feel like the same activity to me. What do you think?

I’ve never really understood the appeal of paying more for a shirt just because it has a brand like Nike or Adidas or something with another brand that sells a product printed across it when a plain, unbranded one costs less.

My partner and I have tried out various terms of endearment (like “love”, “dear”, “baby” or “babe"), but none of them ever sounded natural when either of us used them — it just ended up being silly, and so we do occasionally pepper them into conversation, when we’re being silly.

Seems totally possible and nearly impossible to track or prove.

Personally, if I’m here I’m in the mood to read and almost never to watch a video. What about you?

Im a tech guy. In the last week, I have received 4 cold calls about new positions and a couple more emails. This month ive seen more anecdotal hiring going on in my friend group. Is there something going on? I’m not looking, haven’t updated my linkedin in years etc…etc…

The current whack-a-mole spam user that I keep having to block due to spamming awful AI imagery in many places is Owbid Catob. Is there any way that admins of communities can block this person’s IP addresses so that they have a harder time posting anything? I will keep blocking the new accounts as they pop up, but I’m getting so tired of this spammer.

I plan on traveling to Spain and southern France by End of September/ Beginning of October and was just wondering how you guys are doing over there.
